Crèche de Saint-Jean, Geneva

Built on a level below the public park, the new crèche building houses all of the activity rooms directly overlooking a secure private garden.

The public park, where no new structures are to be built, is a place where locals can enjoy green surroundings. The existing building contains the crèche’s dining room and administrative facilities. The tunnel link between the two entities gives the building an independent touch, yet still enables the crèche to run smoothly. A ramp provides access to the new section. The various areas benefit from plenty of natural light, while visual contact is encouraged through an appropriate level of transparency. Sand-blasted reinforced concrete in dark grey adds the finishing touch to this new structure.
