Professional Technical Centre for the Textiles Industry, CHIASSO

The site for the new Professional Technical Centre for the Textiles Industry (CPT) is located between the railway lines and a section of the town.

The layout of the development, which complies with the restrictions of the Ordinance on Protection against Major Accidents (OPAM), accounts for this location and determines the character of the new construction. The project comprises two slightly offset structures that are linked by an interior road running the length of the development. The low building faces the train lines and aligns with the existing industrial shed. The ground floor is intended for public access and plays the role of a reception area that’s open and traversable (conference hall, café, gym). The upper floor of this building is home to high-ceilinged spaces (textiles and designs) and the shed roof lends it an industrial feel. The administrative, library, teaching and sewing workshop spaces are integrated into the tall, narrow building facing the town. All the areas benefit from an entirely glazed façade, which could be considered as the shop window of the new Professional Technical Centre for the Textiles Industry.
