Gymnasium/Fire Station, Geneva

The plot for this building development lies between a cemetery and a school. The design envisages the construction of two buildings connected underground by a car park and other rooms.

The staggered position of buildings allows for the incorporation of the sports facilities requested (playing courts and athletics tracks). The fire station houses a museum, cleaning area and fire engines, making the most of a double-height above the changing rooms. Organised around a multi-purpose room, the offices and meeting rooms are located in the loft area. The gymnasium lies at street level and, like the fire station, its changing rooms are found on the floor above. The load-bearing structure, flooring and façades are made entirely of wood.
